Meet Kateri
Kateri is an inaugural artist from our 2014 Artist Collective program launch. She is originally from Denver, CO and was homeless in Nashville for 4 years before securing Section 8 housing in April 2015. She is known for her bold and colorful abstract art pieces. Her favorite mediums are acrylic painting and sculpture. Her interest in creating art began while coloring with her mother, and when she started school and took art classes, that passion grew. The passion to create has more intensity with each created piece, as she views each creation as its own spiritual experience.
Kateri’s innovative artistic style features a harmonious unity of a variety of mediums. The meticulously-constructed sculpture entices viewers to observe the pieces from multiple angles.
“My purpose in creating art is to share my gift with people and to encourage others to share the spiritual and healing experience of creating beauty.”
