Become an Artist at Daybreak!

We welcome all artists experiencing housing insecurity to apply, no matter the artistic skill level, formal training, education, or experience.

If you are seeking a community where you can explore new art mediums, gain access to art-related income opportunities, and contribute to challenging stereotypes about homelessness…we might be a great fit for you!

Art forms currently exhibited at Daybreak Arts include: drawing, painting, photography, jewelry, fiber arts, mixed media, printmaking and sewing.

What’s next?

After we review your application and find that Daybreak Arts is the right fit for you, here’s what next steps will include:

  • Tour our building and attend a New Artist Orientation

  • Review contracts and community agreements

  • Create a plan for success with our Artist Manager

  • Use our space to create, try new mediums, and connect with our community

What to expect as a Daybreak Artist:

 

Studio + Gallery

  • Access to a professional art studio to create and a group gallery space to exhibit and sell work.

  • Personal storage bins and artwork storage

  • Kitchen with resource board, coffee, and snacks

  • Access to a sewing machine, matboard cutter, miter saw, equipment and tools, iMacs, Dell laptops, and more.

Art Supplies

  • Access to professional-grade and specialty art supplies including drawing, painting, photography, jewelry, leather, fiber arts, mixed media, sewing, printmaking, and more.

  • Access to iMac computers with graphic design, photo editing, and video software.

  • Speciality art supplies by request (after 60-days)

 

Training + Education

  •  Access to artistic and entrepreneurial workshops to gain new skills, discover new artistic mediums and passions, and meet local artists in the community.

  • Access to offsite field trips to galleries and cultural institutions, as well as sponsored independent learning opportunities like ABC’s Periscope.

Exhibitions + Marketplace

  • Access to online marketplace, marketing, and participation in regular local exhibitions to exhibit and sell work (after 60-days).

  • Access to additional creative income opportunities like commissions, murals, teaching, licesning, and more.
