POVA IN THE NEWS: Pride Publishing Group - Artists impacted by homelessness use art to beautify, renew Dickerson Pike neighborhood

Poverty and the Arts (POVA), an East Nashville nonprofit social enterprise, will be hosting a mural launch and block party along Dickerson Pike on July 13 called ‘Community Canvas: Celebrating Dickerson Pike’s Creative Spirit.’ The block party will celebrate the businesses and creative spirit along the Dickerson Pike corridor, as well as highlight the studio and bus stop murals conducted by POVA and sponsored by AT&T.
The Community Canvas Block Party will include a variety of participating small businesses on Dickerson Pike, live-music and a pop-up market at DRKMTTR, food trucks, DIY screen-printing from Hip Hues, and an art exhibition at POVA. The Community Canvas Block Party is sponsored by several local businesses including LKQ Pick Your Part, Arbonne International, Armstrong Realty, and Publix.
Located on Dickerson Pike in East Nashville, Poverty and the Arts (POVA) is a social enterprise 501(c)3 nonprofit that equips people impacted by homelessness with the creative resources, training, and marketplace to overcome barriers to employment and income by leveraging their creative talent. POVA provides a professional art studio setting, artist grade supplies, artistic and business workshops, and gallery exhibition and representation to artists impacted by homelessness.
