Collaborative Exhibition at Frist Art Museum — Shinique Smith "Found Narratives"

Collaborative Exhibition at Frist Art Museum
Shinique Smith "Found Narratives"
June 10-September 18, 2016

POVA collaborated with the Frist Art Museum from fall 2015 through summer 2016 for their Shinique Smith "Found Narratives" exhibition. Our artists attended kick-off party at the Frist and heard from Brooklyn-based artist Shinique Smith, then worked with local teaching artist, Courtney Adair Johnson, in a series of workshops to create their own collaborative art pieces inspired by the theme “Found Narratives.” The pieces were on display in the Conte Community Gallery at the Frist Art Museum during Shinique Smith "Found Narratives" exhibition. The community organizations featured in this collaborative exhibition include POVA, Thistle Farms, YMCA Latino Achievers, and Maplewood High School (Tennessee).
