POVA IN THE NEWS: Nashville Arts Magazine - Montgomery Bell Academy’s 2017 Annual Art Show
Montgomery Bell Academy | September 14 – 20
Montgomery Bell Academy will be hosting their annual Art Show in their Davis Building gallery September 14 – 20. The show began as an event for the MBA Mothers Club 15 years ago and has now grown into a fine art exhibition featuring the work of over 55 local and regional artists such as Lisa Zager and Joe Swing. Other featured artists are alumni of MBA returning to showcase their pieces. The Art Show is free and open to the public, and all pieces on display are available for purchase by guests. Exhibiting artists will be also present during the event, giving visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the creators of the artwork they are seeing.
This year, the show will also feature artwork from the nonprofit Poverty & the Arts, which combats homelessness in the creative community by training and providing a marketplace for artists overcoming homelessness. Their mission is to provide “supplies, studio space, training, and a marketplace for artists . . . to create and sell artwork, as well as gain valuable entrepreneurial and social skills which helps them earn creative income.” All proceeds from the sale of POVA pieces will benefit the organization and the original artists.
An opening reception will be held from 6-9p.m. on Thursday, September 14 and 10a.m. – 4p.m. on Saturday, September 16. Food and drink will be provided.
