Meet Sheray Ominyi

Sheray Ominyi joined our Artist Collective in summer 2024. She was born in Winchester, TN and describes herself as a “very shy and quiet individual”. She was homeless for 4 months in Nashville before securing housing in February 2024. Before that, she had experienced homelessness in Alabama for 5 months, spending a total of 9 months unhoused. She works part-time doing a variety of jobs with Industrial Staffing.

Sheray’s primary medium is acrylic paint on canvas. She discovered her love and passion for art in the summer of 2022, after she started working on an ekphrastic project where she was drawing a piece inspired by her original poem titled, A Splash of Color. From this project she found a love of drawing which shifted to painting. Since then, she has been selling her work online including E-Bay, Mecari, and Facebook Buy Sell & Trade.

Sheray paints for the joy it inspires in herself and others. She says the love of God inspires her art with a combination of colors and uniqueness. While at Daybreak Arts, Sheray hopes to grow and become educated as a professional artists. She hopes to inspires others and start a career doing art.

Whether it’s through sweeping curves, sharp angles, or harmonious color contrasts, Sheray’s work radiates energy. Her pieces capture a sense of movement, pulling you into a world where colors dance and emotions come alive.

“The love of God inspires my art with a combination of colors and uniqueness. Creativity comes through joy, happiness, and peace.”
