Meet Sidney Sparkle

Sidney Sparkle joined our Artist Collective in July 2022 and is originally from St. Louis, MO. They have a bachelor’s degree in Art History and a wide range of experience including residency at Chicago Artist Coalition and documentary production with Chicago Filmmakers and NECAT. Their performance and production experience also includes drag, one-man show, pantomime, and burlesque.

Their preferred mediums and artistic expressions are performance, photography, drawing tablets, and antiquated tiny tech (e.g. Game Boy camera). Throughout childhood, Sidney Sparkle was bullied for walking and talking different and now “flips the script” through their performance art. When asked about their artistic inspiration, Sidney Sparkle shared “I create art to make sense of the world. I find playfulness in everything by questioning things. We can use our minds to change the culture.”

During their time at Daybreak Arts, Sidney Sparkle hopes to complete a variety of types of work including a dance studio show and travel TV pilot via cable access. They hope to explore mediums and play with new, recurring themes they have yet to explore.

Sidney Sparkle’s work is often inspired by antiquated tech, 70s game shows, and the endless possibilities of being unique.

“I create art to make sense of the world. I find playfulness in everything by questioning things. We can use our minds to change the culture.”
