Daybreak Artists Partner with Belmont Honors for Photography and Multi-Media Collaboration
During the spring semester of 2025, Daybreak Artists partnered with Belmont University Honors Scholars for a photography and multi-media collaboration. This project was two semesters in the making, with lots of work coming from both collaborators. With research done by the honors students, and photos and songs done by the artists, this exhibition highlighted the creative expression and impact of being unhoused on an individual.
On Saturday, April 5th, we held a reception celebrating the work of artists from Daybreak Arts, as well as the Belmont University Honors Scholars Collaborative at the Watkins Art Gallery in The Packing Plant during the First Saturday Art Crawl in the Wedgewood-Houston Arts District.
“Our Lives Are An Unwritten Song” by Daniel Holmes
The song, “Our Lives Are as an Unwritten Song,” was written and performed by Daybreak Artist Daniel Holmes in collaboration with Belmont students and recorded at Ocean Way Studio.
Accompanying Daniel’s lead vocals and the vocalists are guitar, piano, and percussion all performed by Belmont students. Congrats to Sidney Sparkle and Cheryl whose words and voices were also featured in the song!
Written and performed by Daybreak Artist Daniel Holmes, with background vocals from fellow Daybreak Artist AM Hassan and Belmont students, this song was created in collaboration with the Belmont Honors class @f.o.c.u.s.2025 as part of our semester-long partnership.
