Daybreak Arts Launches New Music Program
On Sunday, August 30th, we launched our new music program to create space for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to reconnect with music, build confidence, and share their talents.
Our first Jam Session & Open Mic was filled with music, encouragement, and connection. Participants performed original songs (shout out Ellie Kane) and covers, played alongside other musicians, and simply enjoyed being in a room where they could share their love of music with others. Our volunteer musicians provided accompaniment, encouragement, and helpful advice and connections around songwriting and Nashville’s music community.
A special thank you to everyone who helped make our first session possible, especially our volunteer musicians, Trinity Community Commons for hosting us, and The Nashville Food Project for providing refreshments for our musical participants!
We’re excited to keep building this program!
