POVA Artist Ash-Shahid Muhammed accepted into Periscope Program

Poverty & the Arts is pleased the announce our artist Ash-Shahid Muhammed was one of the 20 talented and local artists selected to participate in the Periscope Artist Entrepreneur Training Program. The Periscope program is a 6-week program run by the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville designed to give artists mentorship, perspective and business tools to organize, plan, and sustain their creative careers.

Shahid is currently a student at Nossi College of Art and is majoring in Illustration. You can find his works on display at Music City Fine Art, Leu Foyer Art Gallery, Center 615, and PhatBites Deli. Shahid will also be a part of our Arts at the Airport exhibit in September. In addition to his artwork, Shahid has written and illustrated a children’s book called Graffiti Pre-School Comics based on the true story of his childhood. These comics are designed to help educate children across America about drugs, gangs, guns, bullying, and jails. We will be hosting a book signing for Shahid in April and are already in the process of helping him edit his second book.
