Shwab Art Club - Collaborative Storytelling

Last week during our Shwab Elementary Art Club, A.M. Hassan—or as the students call her, Mrs. Stackhouse—introduced the concept of storytelling through art, teaching how we can tell stories with images instead of just words. Each student received a blank book and began illustrating their own original stories.

During yesterday’s Art Club meeting, students built on that lesson by participating in a collaborative storytelling project. Working in groups, they chose a shared theme and created individual pieces that came together to form one cohesive, large-scale story. One group explored a space-themed adventure about traveling to the moon, while another focused on a “girl power” theme, celebrating strength and empowerment.

We loved seeing the students work together to develop their ideas and encourage each other in their art. Shwab teachers have even shared that our Thursday Art Club has become some of the students favorite parts of their school week.
