Shwab Art Club Spring 2026 Student Art Show
There’s something powerful about seeing a child light up beside something they created.
On Thursday, May 7th during Art Club, our students carefully matted and prepared their artwork for the after-school exhibition, where parents, families, and guests gathered to celebrate our young artists and the incredible work they created throughout the semester.
As families walked through the gallery, students proudly stood beside their work, sharing stories, techniques, and the meaning behind each piece. Throughout the semester, students explored a variety of artistic mediums, including acrylic painting, storytelling through art, collaborative projects, 3D sculpture, mixed media, pencil drawing, and more.
The joy in the room as students shared their artwork with families said more than words ever could and served as a powerful reminder of why programs like this matter so much. This semester was about more than just creating art—it was about students gaining confidence, building relationships with peers who share similar passions, and deepening connections between students, families, and the school community through intergenerational learning and meaningful paid teaching opportunities that support artists’ professional growth and economic mobility.
On Monday, May 11th the entire school participated in a gallery walk, where these young artists will have the opportunity to showcase and talk about their work with their peers.
Thank you, Rethink Community, Shwab Elementary, and PENCIL, for believing in this pilot art club program and helping make this experience possible for these talented 3rd graders!
The Shwab Elementary Art Club is part of Gigi’s Creative Corner, a Daybreak Arts program dedicated to bringing accessible and impactful art experiences to young people with Daybreak teaching artists.
