Meet Cheryl

Cheryl Harris joined our Artist Collective in July 2022. She is from Nashville, TN and began making art in a home economics junior high class. Her grandmother helped her sew her first shirt and taught her how to make collages with paper and fabric. Cheryl shares that the memories of creating with her grandmother remain an inspiration to this day. She also enjoyed taking pottery and color mixing classes. Now, her preferred mediums are colored pencils, oil paint, jewelry, collage, and writing and she enjoys using these mediums to depict nature.

When asked about her creative inspirations, Cheryl shared: “Art is a peace of mind. It brings out who you are. Art can be inspiring for others to open up about their stories and give joy to those with no hope. Through my art, I want to show that love is still alive.”

During her time at Daybreak Arts, Cheryl plans to evolve as an artist and to be selected for open call-for-art opportunities. She also plans to develop her writing skills and incorporate her writing into other art forms. Her long-term goal is to sell enough art to buy a home and has already found hope for this goal through Daybreak.

Cheryl is proud to present her first collection with Daybreak Arts featuring her unique acrylic technique depicting her favorite subject: nature and flowers.

“When you have a vision and know you created art based on that, it helps you identify your strength.”
