Meet Waweise
Waweise joined our Artist Collective in July 2025. She is originally from Nashville, but has lived in multiples states including Arizona. Her primary mediums are soft pastels and watercolor. She enjoys painting animals, people, and flowers. She is a self-taught artist, but has taken various art courses including a college pottery class, a photography class, and an online drawing course in 2023.
Waweise grew up in Nashville and attended Tennessee State University. While she loved art, during her time in Nashville, she didn’t know any Black artists, so she chose another field. Now, Waweise is focusing on her art again. She makes art because it is essential to her well-being.
“I feel more alive when I am creating. It brings me joy. I am inspired by nature, by certain expressions on human faces, and the blooming of a plant that I have waited for a long time.”
At Daybreak Arts, Waweise hopes to learn more about art, to exhibit, and to sell her own art including learning more about online sales. She would also like to improve her watercolor and pastels, as well as learn pencil drawing.
Waweise is proud to present her first collection with Daybreak Arts featuring detailed pastel drawings of plants, animals, and highlighting her attention to detail and ability to capture emotion through this medium.
“I make art because it is essential to my well-being. I feel more alive when I am creating. It bring me joy.”
